Tesco and Homeplus have created the ultimate shopping experience for their South Korean customers by letting them buy products using QR Codes. The groceries are delivered the same evening!
Homeplus boosted its sales to over $ 30,000 a week per billboard only on QR Code sales.

Wondering if this works in Melbourne =)

Leave a comment about supermarkets in Australia especially Coles, Woolworth, or Aldi should implement this marketing strategy to boost up their sales without increasing the number of stores.

The "Keep Calm" Trend !

Who would have thought that a largely unknown and forgotten World War II relic would become popular in the 21st century? "Keep Calm and Carry On" was a slogan used in a propaganda poster produced by the British government in 1939 at the beginning of World War II in the hope it could be used to raise the morale of the British public.

Today. one of the more recent phrases that has been coined for marketing use is the Keep Calm and Carry On poster from WW2.

This poster has been adapted into pretty much every way possible providing marketing material and branding collateral for businesses. There has also been a large number of posters created for brand awareness and images.

Below are some examples of the Keep Calm and Carry On poster used for marketing purposes.

However, there are also heaps of interesting Keep Calm Memes around!

It’s crazy to see so many derivative products (from deck chairs to iPhone cases) now available for purchase!

Well, If you guys are interested to know more about the story behind Keep Calm and Carry On, please do spend 3 minutes to finish the video below! You will be amazed =)

Are you familiar with this Keep Calm? Any interesting phrase you would like to share with us? Just leave a comment below =)

Did Google's New Inbox Just Kill Email Marketing?

Sorry mates, I have been busy to update lately, but who cares?! I am back!!

I would like to share something interesting today. As one of the most popular email services in the world, Gmail's recent inbox changes have some pundits questioning whether email marketing's best days are behind it. Wondering how many of you are the user of Gmail?

In a matter of weeks, three small tabs - Primary, Social, and Promotion - have become giant question marks looming over every email marketer's head. But is the alarm justified? Or could Gmail's new inbox provide new opportunities to bring more powerful email experiences to consumers?

Gmail automatically categorizes each user's email into three tabs:
The Primary tab is the general inbox and the familiar main display whenever a user logs onto his or her account.

The Social tab includes all social media updates and correspondences.

The Promotions tab aggregates all opt-in email marketing offers as well as promotional display ads that resemble emails from Google itself.

Email marketers have valid reasons to be concerned as when users open a marketing email, they are doing it with purpose, and possibly, a higher level of buying intent. And therein lies the opportunity.

The emphasis on timeliness in email marketing is not new, but the technology to swap out content at the moment of each recipient's open it. With agile email marketing technology, content within emails can be dynamically changed based on when, where, and how recipients open and interact with messages. Building relevant communications becomes easier for the marketer and results in deeper engagement with the consumer.

In my opinion, the only people I know who still check their email through an online inbox are 60 and 75 respectively. Younger friends get their emails through a mail client, as I do. And most of us see our email on our smartphones or tablets. So, unless Google sorting will affect how my Gmail winds up in my MacMail inbox, I doubt I will even notice it. I have not gone to Gmail online about once or twice so far this year. Frankly, I don't like to as I find their login somewhat cumbersome. If Google really wants people to use Gmail that way, they will fix the login. Since they haven't, I suspect they know most people don't go there.

Hence, let's share your thoughts with us! Till then, Byeeeeee!

Is PayPal Safe?

Is PayPal safe ? That's the first question I need to answer whenever I have a conversation between my friends and me about each item I purchased from eBay. Frankly speaking, I prefer to shop online instead of shop in department stores. PayPal will always be my first option whenever I make my transactions.

The idea behind PayPal is simple: Use encryption software to allow people to make financial transfers between computers. That simple idea has turned into one of the world's primary methods of online payment. Today over 140 million internet users prefer to use PayPal to send money to each other via email. PayPal has become such a convenient and trusted way to transfer money online, 90% of eBay's purchases go through PayPal.

Here are some of the things you might use PayPal for:
  • Send of receive payments for online auctions at eBay and other websites
  • Purchase or sell goods and services
  • Make or receive donations
  • Exchange cash with someone
Most of the largest online shopping stores support Paypal such as:

Through its policies, practices, and business integrity, PayPal has earned the trust of both parties. With multiple guarantees in place, buyers and sellers entrust PayPal with their credit card and bank information. PayPal keeps that private customer information secret. Then, while "blinded" from the other party's confidential information, strangers safely send money to each other through PayPal and email.

Hence, my answer is YES! It is safe =)

In the meantime, let me know what do you think about PayPal? Do you prefer Paypal or Credit Card whenever you make your transactions online?

Cheers !!

Official Launch of Flying Future

Hello readers and welcome to Flying Future. My name is er... Shin, but normally people do called me Kelvin. This site will serve as my blog, my marketing assessment, as well as a point of communication between me and my friends.
Photo taken at Big Ben, London, 2012.
I would like to think of myself as a normal boy born in a normal family leading a normal life and fortune enough to study in the world's most liveable city, Melbourne. But if the life I'm living is normal, I shudder to think what is special and out-of-the-ordinary.

Melbourne, Australia
I am starting this blog when I was informed that this will be part of the assessment in Electronic Marketing which I am taking this semester. In the coming days, I shall be exploring the inner workings of my mind, sharing about how electronic marketing has changed the world in the past decades and begin the journey of re-discovering myself.

E-Marketing

So please bookmark my blog, and find out everything about e-marketing as well as why routine isn't exactly normal.

Stay tuned!
